Punchline Cinéma was founded in 2012 by Lucas Tothe and Sylvain Lagrillère. Over thirty short films have been produced to date, selected and awarded at prestigious festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Clermont-Ferrand, Locarno, BFI.
In 2016, Punchline Cinéma was awarded the Label Nouveau Producteur by the Maison du Film Court. The first feature film produced – NOUS SOMMES JEUNES ET NOS JOURS SONT LONGS by Cosme Castro and Léa Forest was presented in 2017 at the Locarno International Film Festival. Among the latest short films produced – MARLON by Jessica Palud and GOLIATH by Loïc Barché were shortlisted for the 2018 César for Best Short Film. In 2021, Bérangère MC Neese’s short MATRIOCHKAS was an official selection at the Césars, and Loïc Barché’s L’AVENTURE ATOMIQUE was nominated for the César for Best Short Film. MATRIOCHKAS also won the Magritte for Best Short Film in Belgium in 2020.
The year 2022 also sees two of our short films HAUT LES CŒURS by Adrian Moyse Dullin and TITAN by Valéry Carnoy shortlisted for the César for Best Fiction Short Film.
HAUT LES CŒURS is also one of the 15 short films shortlisted for the Oscar 2023 for Best Fiction Short Film.
In 2022, one of the company’s producers, Lucas Tothe, received the Producer of the Future award at the Saint-Jean-de-Luz International Film Festival.
